GHG BRAZIL APPOINTS NEW MANAGER

Big news today.  My long-time co-worker, friend, and confidante Vitor Ishimura came up with such an exciting plan for a new division of my company, that I had to tell him, “Do it!  What are you waiting for??”  But there are only so many hours in a day, so something had to change.

This article,  appearing on our company website and elsewhere, explains it probably better than I could:

Leonardo Lima de Oliveira of Gonzaga - Santos, Sao Paulo, has been selected as new Senior Manager of Glass House Graphics Brazil, effective today, June 9, 2009. He succeeds long-time head Vitor Ishimura, for whom Leo worked as assistant since last year.

He joins the ranks of such GHG managers as Alexander Starling (Belo Horizonte, Brazil); Michelle Principe` (Mania, Philippines), Santosh Rath (Delhi, India); and David Campiti (GHG USA). He will be assisted in the Fortaleza, Brazil region by Antonio Marcos.

“Vitor Ishimura joined Glass House as a penciller several years ago but fell into a Manager’s role very quickly,” explains GHG’s CEO David Campiti, based in their primary U.S. office. “As his interests grew in the videogame and other markets, he brought to us ideas for expanding our services significantly into those fields. It only made sense to let him focus where he’ll do the most good, so we’ll be making an announcement soon about a specific new GHG division that Vitor will spearhead.”

“Joining GHG was the best experience in my life, as I learned so much in these years of constant contact with my big teacher and father in the business, David Campiti,” reports Vitor. “I feel as though I’ve reached my goals in the agenting field; now, I’m trying to approach new objectives. I’ve got a huge passion for videogame/film-related things and, with Leonardo now in charge, I feel free to find new business to GHG and to get back to drawing, as well. I feel secure since the artists I’ve cared for so much over these years are in good hands.”

Meantime, Leonardo Lima de Oliveira’s role within GHG takes path of growth similar to Vitor’s when he first joined GHG. “I came to Glass House as a comics artist and colorist and, even as I worked on assignments, both Vitor and David saw that I was a good communicator and organizer,” Leonardo says. “Last week, they asked me if I woud be willing to run the show, and it’s an opportunity I couldn’t pass up. A chance to work every day with the finest artists in all of Brazil is just amazing. I was chatting with Will Conrad last night and Mike Deodato this morning. It doesn’t get much better than this, creatively.”

Leonardo’s talent roster includes artists scattered through all of Brazil, with concentrations of talent in Sao Paulo and Fortaleza. Among his artists are Al (Vampirealla) Rio, Joe (Thunderbolts) Pimentel, Diego (Man With no Name) Bernard, Amelia (Mercy Thompson) Woo, Walter (Red Sonja) Geovani, Eduardo (1001 Arabian Nights) Ferigato, Erica (Warcraft) Awano, Claudia (Good vs. Evil) Medeiros, and nearly 30 other artists working for Marvel, Dynamite, Dark Horse, Harris, Stone Arch Books, Rubicon, and other publishers — as well as videogame publishers, advertising agencies, and other clients.
